Nintendo Falls to Dead Last as Ocarina of Time Holds 96 on Metacritic
Nintendo dropped 17 points to 45.0 and last place, while its Ocarina of Time remake holds a 96 Metascore and PlayStation climbed from last to #1.

Nintendo dropped from second place to last on the Console Wars board, losing 17.0 points from 62.0 to 45.0 between our November 7, 12:00 UTC and November 8, 00:00 UTC snapshots. Fans were talking about the Ocarina of Time remake and arguing about piracy as it fell.

Console Vibe Score, 0–100: fan mood on X, evidence-adjusted. How it works
The board reshuffled completely in twelve hours. PlayStation went from dead last to #1, Steam gave up first place, and Xbox edged up to #2. The Vibe Score tracks fan mood on X, not sales. Nintendo's conversation in this snapshot was evenly split, 37.5% positive and 37.5% negative, with the rest neutral, even though it had the highest buzz of the four platforms at 62.
Ocarina of Time holds a 96 on Metacritic
The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake launched on Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5. As of November 5, KeenGamer reported that no game released in 2026 scored higher on Metacritic than its 96, based on over 80 reviews.
Players in this snapshot praised its visuals, performance and execution, and the remake was Nintendo's leading topic. That is what makes the fall unusual: Nintendo's biggest positive story was still running while its score went down.
What Nintendo fans are saying
Alongside the Zelda praise, one fan said the remake surpassed their expectations.
So, I'm in love with this game already! I know that the original is my favorite game ever, but this is a totally new experience! After playing it last night on stream I can say that Nintendo surpassed my expectations in every way and I believe that they may have created the
The snapshot's only negative Nintendo topic was piracy and emulation. Some posts argued about whether piracy can be justified at all, and one mocked people who brag about it.
“Hey Nintendo look at me! I’m pirating your video games and modifying your consoles! Hey, hey Nintendo look at me! Look Nintendo I emulating your games, look! Look at me, look at me!! Watchu gonna do about it, huh? Look I’m doing piracy! I’m downloading roms Nintendo look!”
The rest of Nintendo's conversation was about sales and third-party news, including Call of Duty: Warzone on Switch 2. Activision announced the Switch 2 version for November 6, alongside Season 1. You can follow it all on the Nintendo topic page.
PlayStation goes from dead last to #1 while fans discuss a new "Exclusive" badge
PlayStation rose 19.6 points to #1 (53.0 → 72.6). Its conversation was 57.1% positive with no negative share at all. Its leading topic was a "PlayStation Exclusive" badge on the official PlayStation.com pages for Ghost of Yōtei and Until Dawn 2, which Push Square reported on November 7. Screenshots shared on X show an asterisk after the word "Exclusive". We did not find an explanation of the asterisk from Sony or the press.

OJO!!
The label lands in a wider conversation about PlayStation games on PC. Bloomberg reported in March that Sony was pulling back on PC releases, and Notebookcheck's write-up of that report named Ghost of Yōtei among the games PC players should no longer expect, while noting that Sony's plans were described as still evolving. In August, Sony released an "Only on PS5" advert featuring Ghost of Yōtei.
Until Dawn 2 is due on PS5 on January 28, 2027.
PlayStation also had hardware news in this snapshot's stories: in a November 6 PlayStation Blog update, Sony delayed its Pulse Elevate wireless speakers, due November 12, citing a production issue and giving no new date.

The rest of the board
Steam fell 28.1 points from #1 to #3 (78.9 → 50.8), the biggest move of the snapshot. Its conversation was low-volume and mostly about publisher sales and discounts, with some players looking ahead to Black Friday. You can follow it on the Steam topic page.
Xbox rose 1.7 points to #2 (59.6 → 61.3). Attention was low, split between first impressions of Gears of War: E-Day and critiques of Xbox's business. Xbox was the only platform besides PlayStation to gain points in this snapshot.
What we couldn't verify
- That the piracy debate or anything else caused Nintendo's fall. It was part of Nintendo's conversation while the score dropped. The Vibe Score measures mood, not causes.
- What the asterisk on the PlayStation label means. Nobody we found has explained it, and we found no footnote for it on either game's U.S. page.
- That the label rules out future PC versions. That reading comes from fans and press commentary. We found no statement from Sony saying so about these two games.
- Sales figures for the Ocarina of Time remake. We found no verified number.
What's next for Nintendo on the board
Nintendo has swung sharply on our board since the remake launched, and a 96 on Metacritic has not kept it out of last place. Vote for who won today's console war on the Console Wars dashboard, see how the score works, and check back after the next snapshot to see whether Nintendo climbs again.
